Lit at the Mic: An Anthology of Lit Youngstown Writers (Call for Submissions)

In celebration of Lit Youngstown's ten year anniversary, we seek poetry and prose (fiction, nonfiction or creative nonfiction up to 4000 words) from writers who have read their work at any of Lit Youngstown's venues: Fall Literary Festival, New Book News, First Wednesday Reader Series, Winter Writing Camp, Words Made Visible, or other event. It has been our honor and privilege to host emerging and experienced writers, some who call Youngstown home, and some who came here to share their work with us. This anthology will be a celebration of many voices. You are part of our story. To submit, click here.

Although you are welcome to do so, we do not require you to submit the work you read at a Lit Youngstown program. You may submit up to five pieces, and the work may be in different genres. Poetry may be up to two pages in length, prose a complete or standalone excerpt up to 4000 words.

We will accept previously published work with attribution, but we will preference unpublished work.  If your work is simultaneously submitted and accepted for publication while it is under consideration here, please let us know.

We have no submission fee, but please consider a donation to give us a lift in covering expenses.

All rights revert back to the author upon publication. If your work is later republished, we request you note its initial publication in Lit at the Mic Anthology.

We require that you: a) are submitting your own, original work or b) submitting in memoriam a work of someone who has participated in our program.

Payment is one print copy.

Deadline: June 30, 2025. We will send notifications by August 31, 2025.
