Workshops & Classes

Supporting beginning and experienced writers, Lit Youngstown has hired seasoned teaching artists to facilitate workshops since 2015. Workshops cover topics such as learning craft elements like scene, characterization and dialogue, or diving into the self by exploring identity, happiness and natural writing styles, among others.

Lit Youngstown runs “shorts” for a single evening or half day, and full-length workshops for 5-6 weeks. As a workshop participant you will have the opportunity to generate writing, and share and receive feedback. Please check out our current workshops page for the latest details.

Since 2017, Lit Youngstown has hosted the Third Thursday Writers Circle, where writers come together to give and receive gentle feedback on new writing. This group meets once a month at Lit Youngstown's office at St. John’s Episcopal Church and is a safe space focused on lifting one another up.

The Teen Writers Workshop also meets once a month online for an informal, respectful gathering of teen writers.
