Readings & Discussions
Lit Youngstown hosts readings in venues throughout the city, as well as the monthly First Wednesday Readers Series (started in 2015). Readings give us a chance to showcase a variety of contemporary work by published local and regional writers. In addition, the open mic after the reading provides a space for local writers to read their work aloud and be heard.
In 2020 we kicked off the New Book News series, featuring books released during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The readings were lives-treamed and are archived on our YouTube channel.
The monthly Food for Thought book discussion is another program enjoyed by reading enthusiasts who are not necessarily writers. For these discussions, we feature a variety of styles of work centered around specific themes.
In August of 2021, Lit Youngstown started a Fantasy Book Club where readers and writers could come to discuss fantasy literature. This group gets together once a month over Zoom every third Saturday.
