First Wednesday Reader Series presents poets Roger Craik of Ashtabula & Dave Lucas of Cleveland. Liz Hicks will co-host. Open mic to follow. Wednesday, September 4 at 7:00pm at the Westside Bowl, 2617 Mahoning Ave. This reading will be downstairs in the Trophy Room, accessible only by stairs.
Roger Craik is English by birth, has lived in the USA since 1991, has published five full-length poetry books (another in progress), and has recently been awarded second prize in the Pablo Neruda International Poetry Award. He very much enjoys visiting Youngstown and having a beer at the Royal Oaks.
Dave Lucas is the author of Weather (VQR / Georgia, 2011), which received the 2012 Ohioana Book Award for Poetry. From 2018 to 2019, he served as the poet laureate of the State of Ohio. A cofounder of Cleveland Book Week and Brews + Prose at Market Garden Brewery, he lives in Cleveland, where he was born and raised.
