Motherhood is full of joys and sorrows--especially in the early years, when women learn not only how to mother well, but how to grieve the woman they once were while honoring the woman they are becoming. In the spirit of self discovery, we welcome new mothers and mothers of children under school age to come together to learn to express, through poetry, the highs and lows of this remarkable journey. The session leader, a new mother and published poet, will guide participants in crafting their own poems while reading selections from Little Astronaut, a collection of poems about motherhood.
The free workshop will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:00pm, June 20 through July 11 (skipping July 4).
St. John's Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave. Youngstown 44503.
Meet the workshop leader: Adrianna Lamonge is an English and theatre arts educator in Northeast Ohio. When she's not teaching high school students about the magic of language, supervising drama club, or volunteering in the literary community, you can find her performing on stage, most recently in her role as Eleanor in Selah Desert Theatre's production of Talking to Starlight. Adrianna lives in Warren with her husband, Andrew, and their son, Henry.
