Love is a Verb: Depicting Romance in Fiction (Jan. 7, Zoom)

What is love? Irrelevant. How do we get our character’s love to seem genuine and avoid feeling forced? This is paramount. This workshop will focus on the way that readers have learned to look for signs of romance, and how to capitalize on romance and audience expectations in fictional settings.

Saturdays, January 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th, and February 4th, 10:00am to noon on Zoom. Course fee $25. Please click here to register by December 15.

N.P. Stokes holds a B.A. in English from YSU and is founding editor of Volney Road Review. His works of realism focus on issues faced by the working poor living in America’s Rust Belt, while his works of fiction and poetry center around philosophical ideas and perceptions of reality. His works have been published in The Penguin Review, and he received YSU’s Robert R. Hare awards for academic and creative writing.
