Genevieve Jencson & Virginia Konchan (April 5)


First Wednesday Reader Series presents Cleveland poets Genevieve Jencson & Virginia Konchan. Co-host Megan Irwin. Open mic to follow. We will also be celebrating National Caramel Day. Many thanks to the Youngstown Foundation for support for this reading, our last at the Soap Gallery, and profound gratitude to Stephen Poullas and Daniel Rauschenbach for hosting us each month in this wonderful space for several years.


Genevieve Jencson holds a BA in English from Hiram College and an MFA in creative writing from Cleveland State University. Her poetry has appeared in jubilat, Sidereal Magazine, Rubbertop Review, and Alimentum. Her chapbook Lanugo (2015) is available from Dancing Girl Press. She lives in Lakewood with her cats, Ernest and Sylvia.


Virginia Konchan is the author of four poetry collections, including Bel Canto (Carnegie Mellon, 2022) and Hallelujah Time (Véhicule Press, 2021) and a short story collection, Anatomical Gift. She is coeditor of Marbles on the Floor: How to Assemble a Book of Poems (University of Akron Press, 2023), and her work has appeared in The New Yorker, The New Republic, Yale Review, and The Believer. She lives in Cleveland, where she teaches at CIA.
