First Wednesday Reader Series presents poets Mary Quade of Madison, Ohio, & Steve Skovensky of Columbus. Open mic to follow. Co-host Sydney Stalnecker. Mary Quade is the author of Guide to Native Beasts (Cleveland State University Poetry Center) and Local Extinctions (Gold Wake) and the winner of the 2022 the Journal Non/Fiction Prize. Mary will read from her newest book, Zoo World: Essays (The Ohio State University Press Mad Creek Books).
Steve Skovensky lives in Columbus and is originally from Northeast Ohio and Kent State, friends with Major Ragain, Ted Lyons, Alice Cone and other poetry mentors there. His words reflect both the work he has done with people experiencing homelessness as well as the joy he has with his family.
