Colleen Clayton grew up outside Cleveland, and after graduating from Kent State, spent time as a social worker in residential treatment centers for troubled teens. At thirty-four she began writing stories and after spending many years in the rejection pile, her young adult novel WHAT HAPPENS NEXT was picked up by Little, Brown. It was a 2012 Ohioana Book Award nominee, a State Library Ohio Reads pick and received a starred Kirkus review. Currently, she is the program coordinator for The Northeast Ohio Masters of Fine Arts program and is working on a second novel with writer and friend Kelly Bancroft.
